At the Debate

Prof. Gayle Allard moderates Democrat-Republican policy debate at Rock the Vote Madrid 2012

Last week, IE Business School Professor Gayle Allard (aka the Californian) was the moderator for an American-style debate (complete with bell timers and rebuttals) between representatives of the Democrat and Republic party (Joe Hurd and Clara del Villar, respectively.)  The Rock the Vote Madrid event was hosted by the American Club of Madrid and the U.S. Embassy (i.e. not IE Business School) at Teatro Kapital and, though only 600 seats were available, 1200 people registered.

Before Professor Allard started in with the debate (which focused on the economy, healthcare, immigration, foreign policy), the U.S. Ambassador to Spain, Alan Solomont, gave an introduction and urged the audience to vote in the upcoming U.S. Presidential elections.  (Check here for  info on how to vote from abroad.)
